What you may be worried about -
- If your abuser has been arrested and charged by the police, you might be called to go to court and give evidence. You may be scared to see him in court and feel unable to give evidence, and worried about what might happen if he isn’t put in prison, either during the case or after having been found guilty.
- You may be worried that you won’t understand how the court works, or that you will be bullied on the witness stand. You may feel guilty that your evidence may put your abuser in prison.
- If your abuser isn’t put into prison, you may be worried that he’ll come back to your house, that he will be violent to you or your children, or will damage your property.
“Courts seemed really scary. Since you’ve been around I feel more in control… and I know I would use the legal system if I had to.”
“Thank you for everything. I couldn’t have gone to court without your support.”
