About Us
Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid provides services for women and children who have been affected by the experience of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault.
BSWA recognises that domestic violence is a violation of women’s and children’s human rights, that it is the result of an abuse of power and control and that it is rooted in the historical status of women in the family and society, which is why we have writtenAims, Values & Principles which underpin all of our work.
We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, managing four refuges, a counselling and family support centre, floating support and outreach services, a women’s safety unit and helpline. We have a volunteer management committee and employ both a staff team and volunteer team working across the organisation. To find out how our services have developed with time, you can read the History page.
For new developments, consult the News section.
BSWA wouldn’t exist without the support of many individuals and organisations over the years. You can find out who supports us and how you can help on the Supporting BSWA page.
