A one day course which aims to develop knowledge, skills and confidence when working with those affected by forced marriages.
This course is suitable for professionals who have already attended our Level 1 DV awareness course or have had similar DV awareness training.
By the end of the course, participants will have:
- Developed an understanding of recent facts and figures around forced marriage
- Gained an understanding of the difference between forced marriages and arranged marriages.
- Familiarised themselves with key motives identified behind forced marriages
- Identified potential warning signs and demonstrate an awareness of the effects of forced marriages on children/young people.
- A brief awareness of the Forced Marriage Act, and how it can be implemented.
- Tools to develop good practice around working with women, understand the dangers of mediating in cases of forced marriage
- An awareness of local and national support services that work directly with those affected by forced marriage.
