About Us

Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid provides services for women and children who have been affected by the experience of domestic violence, rape and sexual abuse.

BSWA recognises that domestic violence is a violation of women’s and children’s human rights, that it is the result of an abuse of power and control and that it is rooted in the historical status of women in the family and society, which is why we have written Aims, Values & Principles which underpin all of our work.

To find out how our services have developed with time, you can read the History of BSWA page.

We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, the details of which are on the  Governance page.

We recognise that the most effective way of supporting women and children is to work in partnership with other agencies. See the Partnership Work page for some examples of how we have achieved this and details of some of our main partners.
